The Armor (Part 1)
As God calls us to "stand strong in the Lord and in His mighty power," He gives us some special equipment to do it. Every believer has six specific pieces of armor that will help us stand in the battles we face. This week we begin to look at the armor one piece at a time, starting with the Belt of Truth, the Breastplate of Righteousness, and the Shoes that come from the readiness of the Gospel of Peace. Standing firm means knowing what is true and being truthful. Standing firm means doing the right thing and living with integrity. Standing firm means always being ready to make the first move toward peace in our conflicts. And the only way we can do any of these things is through a clear understanding of the Gospel. The battle is real but we don't face it unarmed. Through the Gospel we have everything we need to have victory.
Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.
