John is the lead pastor of The Church at Perry Creek. He comes to us from Wichita, KS by way of Dallas, TX and Harare, Zimbabwe.
His 34 years of ministry include everything from teaching 6th grade boys Sunday School to being the Academic Dean of a theological college; youth ministry to the senior pastorate. But perhaps his most interesting job was when he worked at K-Mart, because that’s where he met his wife Kelley. They have been happily married for 29 years.
John enjoys fishing, hunting, and listening to classic rock. And he is the proud father of two UNC Tar Heels: Elisabeth, age 24 and Calvin, age 22.
John’s heartbeat is to teach people at all levels how to understand Scripture for themselves, whether they are new believers, committed Christians, or seminary students. His mission is to help people live according to truth and to see people glorify God because they know Him.
John is the associate pastor of The Church at Perry Creek. He was born and raised in Alabama (Roll Tide), and moved to North Carolina to study at Southeastern Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, where he graduated in 2016.
John has enjoyed various opportunities to serve the local church, in areas of worship, college, youth, and children’s ministries. John and his wife Sarah have been married for over three years and have a son named John Duke (2) and a daughter named Sadie (1).
John enjoys college football, playing golf, music, and spending time with his family. John is blessed to serve at The Church at Perry Creek, and is excited about being a part of the work God is doing through this church to reach our community and the nations with the gospel of Jesus Christ.
MINISTER OF WORSHIP
Gilbert is the minister of worship at The Church of Perry Creek. He was born in Papua, Indonesia, but completed his high school education in Missouri as a foreign exchange student. He returned for college in 2010 at Missouri Western State University where he met his wife, Amber. They have been married for over four years, have two daughters, Mayeleila (3) and Oliana (1), and expecting twin sons, Brethson and Brazen, in April of 2019.
Gilbert and his family moved to North Carolina in July of 2018 to attend Southeastern Baptist Theological Ministry. He is pursuing his MDiv in Worship Leadership. Gilbert has served leading worship at various churches in Missouri for over five years, but has been a part of worship ministry for over fifteen years.
Gilbert’s desire is to bring the Gospel back home to his home country. He wants the people of Papua to grow in truth despite the oppression of different religions.
Frank is the youth leader at The Church at Perry Creek. He was born and raised in South Carolina. He studied Youth Ministry at North Greenville University, graduated in 2016, and is currently studying for a masters degree in biblical marriage, family, and individual counseling at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, NC.
Frank is enjoying building relationships with the students at The Church at Perry Creek and watching them own their faith while growing closer together as a group of young men and women. Frank likes to partner alongside parents in reaching the students of the youth ministry.
Frank married his wife Becklin on May 13, 2017 and they moved to Wake Forest, North Carolina, for his seminary degree in August 2017. They are excited to be members at The Church at Perry Creek, serve in the youth ministry, and watch the youth ministry grow alongside the
